Getting There:

Parking options and fees:

  • City residents with a valid Beach Parking Permit can park for free.
  • Non-residents can pay a daily parking fee of $13 or purchase a seasonal pass for $60.
  • Town of Plattsburgh residents are offered a discounted seasonal pass for $30.
  • Paid parking is enforced Monday–Friday, 10AM–6PM.
  • There is no fee for beach admission—only for parking.
  • Vehicles with valid handicap permits can park in designated spots for free.

Events:

  • Lake City Running Festival. Organized by North Country Health and Wellness, Lake City Running Festival offers a race with a small-town vibe taking place at the end of May each year. Participants can run a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or kids fun-run along the shores of Lake Champlain! The races are only a small portion of the event, with live music, food, drinks, raffles, and awards. >Visit Website
  • Mayor’s Cup Regatta and Festival. This one-day celebration occurs annually in July and the Plattsburgh City Beach is just one location to get involved with the fun! Hosted by The Sunrise Rotary Club of Plattsburgh, activities generally include a 5K race, sandcastle contests, kids fun-run, a kayak parade, poker run/walk, live music and much more. >Visit Website

Visitor Tips:

  • Beach opening dates are subject to change, but generally begin Memorial Day weekend and end Labor Day weekend.
  • Lifeguards are on duty daily from (10 AM–6 PM, seven days a week).
  • The beach is a great spot for windsurfing and kiteboarding but please launch only from designated areas.
  • Visitors and families are encouraged to bring broad-spectrum waterproof sunscreen, beach chairs, towels, sun umbrellas or beach tents, and bottles of water to stay hydrated!
