Memorial Day Parade Recap

May 28, 2025

It’s the 1 month milestone of this internship - def gonna treat myself to a sweet treat

Wow! Plattsburgh, you ATE. What a Memorial Day 2025 celebration to remember in the City of Plattsburgh; our community is northing short of  i c o n i c ! I first want to say thank you to everyone, from those who helped put it all together to everyone who came out and absolutely served – in spirit, in outfit, in community pride. You could feel the presence of every community member, past present & future, coming together to celebrate our passion for local events and the values we are blessed to have today because of those who dedicated their lives. That is the beauty of Plattsburgh.

The parade was a huge step into seeing future collaborations between the City and the Town of Plattsburgh - progress is only made when we come together to do so, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more! Colorful floats? Refurbished Military Vehicles? They cruised from the West Side Ballroom down to the Old Air Force Base Oval. Crowds of families & friends came in droves, decked out in all the celebratory accessories you could think of. New York Road was dazzling in Red, White, & Blue.

The parade commenced and the community gathered at the US Oval Veteran’s Memorial Park  for a deeply moving ceremony honoring those who gave everything for the freedoms we have today. Veterans, families, and community members of all ages came together in remembrance. It was a powerful moment that reminded us why Memorial Day is more than just a long weekend—it’s about legacy, sacrifice, and unity.

No big event is complete without our legendary local food trucks. Shoutout to Tammy’s Lunchbox, Mr. Ding-A-Ling, High Peaks Brew, and the many others who pulled up and kept the vibes high and stomachs full. We appreciate you more than you know!

If you didn’t know this was all going down, we gotta fix that. No time machine available yet, but we do have a super easy way to stay looped in by heading on over to our Linktree, where you can find links to everything: City social media, the Discover Plattsburgh Event Calendar, and updates posted by yours truly and the rest of the Community Development Office dream team. Pro Tip: Bookmark the “Events” tab on the Discover Plattsburgh website. That’s where we drop all the details on what’s coming up – so next time, you’ll be ready to rally and join the fun.

Thanks again, Plattsburgh. Can’t wait for what’s next.
